Tournament Checklist

These are the standard operating procedures for running a public debate program tournament. You can print this and use it as a checklist to make sure all steps are complete.

1

Create your new Tournament

Save a School attending your tournament. If running an online tournament, it is required to have an email address associated with the school so you can send eBallots after the tournament

Save the School's Teams. Be careful with spelling each competitor's name correctly. If you have a two person team, enter "X" for the missing third debater.

Save the School's Judges. Note which rounds the judge is available and whether the judge should be a low, normal, or high priority. If running an online tournament, make sure to have a valid email address for each judge so they can receive their eBallots.

Repeat Steps 2, 3, and 4 for each school in attendance.

Enter the room names if you are running a face-to-face tournament. If you are running an online tournament using zoom breakout rooms, enter the breakout room names.

Double check that all teams, judges, and rooms have been entered.

Pair Round 1

Print Round 1 Postings & post around the central room

Print Round 1 Ballots & distribute to judges. If running an online tournament, send eBallots to all judges.

Announce topic for Round 1

Push any ballots for judges who did not pick up their round 1 ballots.

Round Round 2

Print Round 2 Postings & post around the central room

Print Round 2 Ballots & lay out for judges to pick up once returned from their round 1. If running an online tournament, send eBallots to all judges via email.

Collect Round 1 Ballots, and once all are in, announce topic for Round 2

Push any ballots for judges who did not pick up their round 2 ballots.

Start recording Round 1 Ballots under the Tab Results page

Collect Round 2 Ballots and record them under the Tab Results page

Double check that all ballots have been recorded for rounds 1 and 2

Pair Round 3

Print Round 3 Postings & post around the central room

Print Round 3 Ballots & distribute to judges. If running an online tournament, send eBallots to all judges via email.

Announce topic for Round 3

Push any ballots for judges who did not pick up their round 3 ballots.
